{"pk":21362,"title":"Balancing on the Edge: Review and Computational Framework on the Dynamics of Fear of Falling and Fear of Heights in Postural Control","subtitle":null,"abstract":"This review explores the complex relationship between Fear of\nFalling (FoF) and Fear of Heights (FoH), and their impact on\nhuman postural control. FoF encompasses a spectrum of psychological\nand physiological responses that dynamically influence\npostural control, while FoH involves perceptual distortions\nand heightened physiological arousal in response to elevated\nenvironments. Through a comprehensive literature review,\nwe examine the research methods and findings of studies\non FoF and FoH. We further propose that Optimal Feedback\nControl (OFC) theory is a suitable framework to understand\nthe computational aspects of how these fears modify postural\ncontrol.
