Twenty-four participants were\nasked to present a topic of their choice under three\ninstructional settings: a blackboard, paper-and-pencil, and a\ntablet. Participants‚Äô gestures were investigated in three\ngroups: deictic gestures that point to entities,\nrepresentational gestures that present picturable aspects of\nsemantic content, and beat gestures that are speech-related\nrhythmic hand movements.
