{"pk":25803,"title":"Executive Functions and Conceptual Change in Science and Mathematics Learning","subtitle":null,"abstract":"We investigate the hypothesis that Executive Functions\n(EFs) are implicated in the learning of science and\nmathematics by examining the relation between\nperformance in two Science and Mathematics Conceptual\nUnderstanding and Conceptual Change (CU&amp;C) tasks,\nand two Stroop-like Inhibition and Shifting EF tasks, in a\ngroup of 69 4th and 6th grader children. The results showed\nhigh correlations between accuracy performance in the\nCU&amp;C and EF tasks even when Intelligence Ability (IA)\nand Age were partialed out. A path analytic model showed\nthat performance in the CU&amp;C tasks could be explained\nby performance in the EF and IA tasks, which were\npositively related to each other.
