The model\nviews the performance of such a knowledge element\nas the combination of affordance properties\nassociated with the element and ability properties\nassociated with an individual. Under specified\nconditions, observed behavior can be used to separate\nand quantify variables measuring situation-action\naffordances and subject abilities. A specific version\nof this model is applied to data from four studies\ninvolving the CMU Lisp Tutor.",
