Inside the Extinction Envelope: A Systemic Review and Meta-Analysis of Paleoclimate Extinction Markers with Comments on the Necessary Array of Last-Threshold Interventions

Abstract
Every element of the causal chain that produced the five largest mass extinctions of the last half-billion years is presently active in the Earth system. The rate of the modern perturbation exceeds every peer-reviewed paleoclimate reference case. A six-intervention portfolio, deployed together at wartime industrial scale beginning now, is the physically necessary and sufficient response. The window in which that portfolio remains fully effective closes between 2028 and 2040. The anthropogenic-versus-feedback tipping point is expected between 2035 and 2040; corrected for the at-least-order-of-magnitude higher rate of contemporary carbon release, loss of agency — the point at which coordinated intervention can no longer arrest the cascade — arrives 200 to 400 years after feedback engagement under sustained portfolio deployment, and collapses onto the tipping point itself under any scenario in which the portfolio is not deployed within the 2028–2040 window.
