Abstract
In recent years, Australia has faced severe bushfires that have highlighted the need for innovative management and recovery strategies. The catastrophic 2019–2020 bushfire season, one of the most devastating on record, burned over 10.7 million hectares, destroyed approximately 3,000 homes, and resulted in the loss of at least 28 lives and over 500 million wildlife casualties. These events have underscored the critical role of climate change in exacerbating bushfire threats, with rising temperatures, diminished rainfall, and more frequent extreme weather conditions creating ideal conditions for bushfires. This essay conducts a predictive analysis of the impacts of climate change on bushfire dynamics and explores strategies to enhance resilience against future crises. It aims to propose a comprehensive framework for bushfire management that emphasizes adaptation, mitigation, and community resilience. By integrating research on climate change with innovative management approaches, this paper seeks to develop more effective and sustainable solutions to mitigate the increasing severity and frequency of bushfires, ultimately aiding in the formulation of actionable strategies that could help avert future bushfire disasters and promote long-term ecological and socio-economic recovery.
