Abstract
The tideland paddy zone drainage system plays an important role in preventing flood damage and protecting the tideland paddy zone by draining the rainwater from the paddy zones and the surrounding catchments in good time. Therefore, scientific design of drainage system and accurate assessment of drainage capacity in tideland paddy zones are important for sustainable development in agricultural production and safe farming.
So far, many theories and methods have been proposed for drainage systems and many programs have been developed to design urban drainage systems, river systems, and simulate and analyze their drainage and pumping capacities, such as SWMM, HEC, and DHI, but have the drawbacks that it is impossible to simulate and analyze the flood runoff process in drainage systems with complex combined structure of paddy fields and drainage channels.
This paper presents an efficient method of drainage system numerical analysis method of a tideland paddy zone. This method combines a flow simulation model in drainage canals based on one-dimensional unsteady flow numerical method and a runoff analysis model in a paddy zone where many paddy fields are connected differently. By applying this method, a drainage system analysis program of tideland paddy zone was developed. The program comprehensively analyzed and evaluated the drainage capacity of the Suk Hwa tideland drainage system in the DPRK and verified its accuracy and effectiveness.
